Katie Price devastated as her son Harvey is taken into intensive care

Brave teen was rushed to intensive care

She’d only just told everyone how happy she was, after going public with new boyfriend Carl Woods. But last week, Katie Price’s world was shattered after her eldest son Harvey was rushed to hospital with a dangerously high temperature, where he was immediately taken into intensive care. As heat went to press, the 18 year old was still in the ICU, with doctors working round the clock to keep him stable. He’s expected to remain in hospital for several weeks, leaving his devastated mum – who was told she couldn’t stay overnight with him due to coronavirus restrictions – trying to keep it together for herself and her other four kids.

Harvey was taken to hospital at the beginning of last week after suffering with breathing problems and a temperature of 42 degrees. According to insiders, Katie was told her son was in a “perilous condition” due to his “complex problems” – the teen suffers from Prader-willi Syndrome, which can cause excessive weight gain. He also has autism, and is partially blind. Doctors were worried he was at risk of a heart attack or organ failure, which could put him into a coma.

“Katie has been preparing herself for this moment all his life, and she’s been told Harvey is in a perilous condition,” said a source close to Katie, who told fans she was gutted that she couldn’t be by his bedside due to limited visiting hours, and was having to resort to Facetime to stay constantly connected. “She’s been here before, but this time it’s far more serious. She’s trying to be tough and strong, but inside she’s falling apart and feels helpless. Doctors need to get Harvey’s temperature down. He’s in a really bad way.”

Katie kept her fans updated with Harvey’s condition via Instagram throughout the week and paid tribute to her

“brave and strong” boy. He’d been hospitalised earlier in the month, after falling ill at his sister Princess’ 13th birthday, and had been sent home after being diagnosed with a chest infection. He was believed to be making a good recovery, before falling ill again and struggling to breathe, leading to his second hospital stay and being admitted to intensive care.

Towards the end of the week, Katie told her followers, “Thank you again for your messages, means a lot to me. I’ve left the hospital for the evening and can confirm Harvey is still in intensive care and [his] medical condition remains complex. I love him so much, he is so brave and [is a] fighter.” She later added that he’d tested negative for COVID-19. Immediately, fans and friends rallied around Katie, as well as her former husbands Peter Andre and Kieran Hayler. Pete, who shares Junior, 15, and Princess, 13, with Katie, wrote on his Instagram that he was “praying” for Harvey, while Kieran, who’s dad to Katie’s younger two children, Jett, six, and five-yearold Bunny, wrote that Harvey was the “strongest boy I know”. Katie – who spent the majority of lockdown away from her other kids shielding Harvey because of his vulnerable health condition – thanked both her exes for their support. Katie’s new boyfriend Carl also sent his love to Harvey, writing online, “The comeback is always stronger than the setback. You got this mate.” Harvey’s siblings also joined in, as Junior wrote, “Love you big bro,” while Princess added, “I love you Harv sooo much.”

We’re all hoping Harvey’s back home with his family as soon as possible. n
