Amber’s A-list support team

While the dramatic trial continues

-

As the high-profile court case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard continued last week, the actress was seen waving at fans and paps as she arrived at the High Court each day – and it seems she has been buoyed up by support from her friends and family. Reports emerged last week that a party attended by a number of celebs was thrown for the actress. Cate Blanchett and Kylie Minogue were among guests at the event, hosted by feminist author Kathy Lette at her north London home. Sandi Toksvig and her wife were also rumoured to be there, as part of a group dubbed “Amber’s Angels”. The stars are said to have got in contact with 34-year-old Amber over recent months in order to support her in the trial with her ex-husband. A source said last week, “They wanted to support Amber and they wanted to throw her a nice dinner to give her a boost. They are a group of like-minded women who have all been through challenges, and they have become her solid gang.” Amber has been joined by her sister as well as her girlfriend Bianca Butti every day in court.

This news comes as more details of the couple’s relationship came to light in court – Johnny, 57, is suing The Sun for libel after they labelled him a “wife beater” in an article. Sean Brett, former head of security for the Pirates Of The Caribbean actor, was one of many of Johnny’s current or former staff to give testimony. On the stand, he said, “Throughout the course of Mr Depp and Ms Heard’ s relationship, Ms Heard was verbally and physically abusive towards Mr Depp.”

The actor’s housekeeper Hilda Vargas told the court via video link of the moment she discovered faeces in the couple’s bed, which Johnny claims came from either Amber or one of her friends. “I was horrified and disgusted,” Hilda said. “It was clear to me that this was human faeces.”

Malcom Connolly – one of Johnny’s bodyguards – spoke to the court about the “severed finger” incident that took place in 2015. After being called to the rented house in Australia to “extract the boss from the situation”, Malcolm recalls Johnny saying to him, “Look at my finger. She’s cut my f**king finger off. She’s smashed my hand with a vodka bottle.” It was also confirmed last week that Johnny’s exes Winona Ryder and Vanessa Paradis will not be appearing as witnesses – although both submitted statements to the High Court to say they had never known Johnny to be a violent man. The trial continues this week. n
