How many workouts do you do a week?

At the moment I’ve been trying to do an online Pilates class every day, but some of them are only around 15 minutes long. Me and Dom [Lever, her husband] do around five sessions a week. We’ve actually got a little gym set up at home so whenever the baby [they have a nine-month-old son] naps we try to squeeze a quick workout in.

When do you work out?

When the baby’s asleep, around 9am. We wake up at about 5.40am and I’ve actually grown to love mornings. It takes me two coffees to get going, so Dom brings me coffee in bed, we watch a bit of TV and then breakfast and hopefully a nap and a workout. Sometimes the baby wakes up halfway through and I use him as a miniweight – he makes sit-ups a lot harder.

Who is your workout buddy?

Me and Dom work out a lot together, I’ve persuaded him to get involved in the Pilates as well. But we’ve always trained together and gone to the gym together. Since the baby has been here, it’s been our couple time. We both enjoy exercising – the endorphin rush is real and you just feel so much more productive. We’re both quite competitive, too.

How do you motivate yourself?

We love watching those Crossfit docs on Netflix and they always make me think I should get off my arse! Twenty minutes doesn’t sound that bad, but after two minutes it already feels like you’ve been going for 45 minutes! A good playlist usually works, too. I also find that having the baby napping makes me very conscious that you only have this time, so you have to get to it or you miss out.

Do you use any wearable tech? I used to, but I ended up getting quite obsessive about how many calories I’d burned and how many steps I’d done. Now I work out, try and push myself and not worry about it. I’ve spent too many years worrying, so I don’t any more.

What’s your post-workout refuel?

At the moment it’s chocolate biscuits – they’re like a reward. We are loving iced coffees too, and I’ve bought a huge bottle of syrup so that we can make them at home. I’ve gone full barista.

What’s your cheat meal?

Dom loves a kebab, which is like the dirtiest kind of takeaway you can have. But neither of us are that strict about what we eat, as we’ve both been through phases where we’ve become quite obsessed with food, so I just don’t care any more. I don’t believe in cheat meals – it’s just about balance. I might have seven chocolate biscuits, but I’ll have a salad for dinner. ■
