There’s only one thing to do when your eldest son gets engaged if you’re Posh – get a £50K makeover, of course!
She’s ready to upstage the bride – and the bride’s mother
Anyone who recalls her Vera Wang gown, gold tiara and bridal throne will know that Victoria Beckham doesn’t do subtlety when it comes to weddings. So, as you can imagine, she’s determined to look her very best for son Brooklyn’s big day.
But according to insiders, the fashion designer is refusing to stop at getting a new dress and new ’do – not when she has an ultraglamorous mother-of-the-bride to compete with. We’re told Vic is just a bit intimidated by Nicola Peltz’s mum, former fashion model Claudia Heffner Peltz, who lives a high-society life, full of country club lunches and political fund-raiser dinners – and she’s sparing no expense in her quest to look the part.
“Vic is used to being in the spotlight, but there’s a fear that she’ll be upstaged by Claudia,” says an insider close to Posh, who is yet to meet the in-laws – Claudia, 65, and her billionaire husband Nelson, 78. “She’s been looking at pictures on Instagram and can’t believe that Claudia’s 20 years older than her. She’s naturally stunning and seems to live a life of privileged luxury – plus she’s extremely wellconnected with America’s elite. Vic reckons she’s the very epitome of effortless glamour.”
Let’s be honest: Victoria and David Beckham aren’t exactly short of good looks or connections themselves. But, according to our source, Posh can’t help but compare their lot to Mr and Mrs Peltz, whose estimated fortune of £1.3billion massively eclipses the Beckhams’ “measly” £336million. But rather than wallow in misery, Vic’s determined to give herself a fighting chance of matching Claudia in the glamour stakes – whatever the cost. That means
giving her beauty and fitness regime a serious upgrade.
“Right now, Vic’s aim is to look as polished as possible,” says our source. “She’s already planning her prewedding regime, and researching treatments that will get her skin glowing. She’ll pay whatever it takes to look good, and she wants to have the top people giving her treatments and getting her body looking amazing. She’s also planning to up her fitness regime with a personal trainer so that she can be in the best shape ever. It could cost up to £50k for everything she wants done, but money is no object.”
It may be early days for wedding planning but – as heat told you last week – Victoria’s a woman on a mission. Brooklyn, 21, and Nicola, 25, only announced their engagement last month, after nine months together, but Vic’s been busy brainstorming wedding venues and outfits ever since. And she used the family’s recent trip to Italy as the perfect chance to discuss their plans.
While the happy couple are apparently planning a huge multi-million pound wedding in the US next year, with Nicola’s parents footing the bill, it’s believed that the Beckhams are also keen to throw a second wedding at their Cotswolds estate. And, unsurprisingly, Victoria’s determined to end proceedings with a bang – and prove they can compete with the Peltzes. “Vic thinks that Claudia and Nelson are in a whole different league,” says our source. “But as the mother of the groom, she wants the serious wow factor.”
