Their make-or-break hol was seriously in-tents
There’s nothing like getting back to nature and reconnecting with family while roasting marshmallows under the stars. But, let’s be real, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West don’t exactly do the simple life. So, when it came to their recent make-or-break family getaway, the couple went all out to go off-grid, splashing out $43K per night to rent an entire 500-acre ranch in Colorado.
According to insiders, their trip to the extra-secluded Dunton River Camp in the San Juan mountains – which features luxury tents and private cabins – was a chance for Kim and Kanye to revive their struggling relationship, after what has been an extremely rocky few months. With their marriage on the line and their four kids – North, seven, Saint, four, Chicago, two, and one-year-old Psalm – in tow, money really was no object.
“Kim and Kanye had their assistants compile a list of the most luxurious and remote places to go to,” says an insider close to the couple, who, before heading to Colorado, flew to the Dominican Republic without the kids for more make-or-break talks. “Besides offering high-end comfort and privacy, it gave the kids the opportunity to connect with nature. It had the best of both worlds – campfires and cabins in a five-star setting. The whole trip cost up to half a million, but Kanye said it was a small price to pay.”
It’s certainly been a challenging time for the pair, as Kim struggled to deal with the fallout of Kanye’s erratic behaviour. The tension hit breaking point last month after Kanye, who suffers with bipolar disorder, lashed out at her and her mum Kris Jenner on Twitter, calling them “white supremacists”. He then held that infamous presidential rally, during which he claimed that he and Kim had considered having an abortion while she was pregnant with North.
According to our insider, Kim laid down the law during their break, but while Kanye was keen to connect with nature, going on hiking and horse-riding trips and dipping into the hot springs, he wasn’t as keen to connect – and compromise – with his wife. “Kim has been very clear about what she needs to save the marriage,” we’re told. “She wants Kanye to go to therapy, to ease up on his political campaign, and to spend more time with the family in LA. But Kanye’s insisting Kim backs him in his presidential bid and he wants them to spend most of their time at his Wyoming home. It was an amazing experience to be in the lap of luxury, but Kim feels they’re still a long way from figuring out their differences.” n
