‘We are in the kind of deep pain we’ve never felt before’
John Legend and Chrissy Teigen announce the tragic loss of their baby
‘We will hug and love each other harder’
Messages of support flooded in from celebs and fans alike last week, after Chrissy Teigen and John Legend announced they had tragically lost their baby during pregnancy. Chrissy posted a series of heartbreaking photos on Instagram showing her and John in the hospital, and told her followers, “We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain we’ve never felt before”, before thanking everyone for their “positive energy, thoughts and prayers”.
The model first announced she and John were expecting their third child in August, and had been keeping fans updated with her progress, recently saying she was “about halfway through” (which is around 20-24 weeks).
But early last week, she’d revealed things had taken a turn for the worse, as she was admitted to hospital with excessive bleeding and was receiving transfusions. At the time, she reassured fans that she and her baby boy were healthy. But days later, she broke the devastating news, saying , “We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”
Chrissy has always given fans an unfiltered insight into her and John’s life with their children, Luna, four, and Miles, two – and last week, she kept things profoundly candid, revealing that she and John “had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack”. She then wrote, “To our Jack, I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you need to survive. We will always love you.”
John later tweeted, “We love you, Jack.”
Following their tragic announcement, the couple received an outpouring of well wishes from their famous friends. Kim Kardashian wrote, “We’re always here and love you guys so much,” while Paris Hilton said, “My heart breaks for you and John. I am so sorry for your loss. Sending you and your family so much love. Love you beautiful.” Channing Tatum added, “Sending so much love to you right now.”
Capping off her emotional post, Chrissy told her followers, “We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies…but everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.” n
