Cheryl & Maya: The baby race
Lockdown seems to have sparked a real baby boom in the celeb universe (as well as us regular folk, if our mates are anything to go by) and it seems there is one particular star who is feeling especially broody.
An insider close to Cheryl tells us she’s still keen to give a sibling to her three-year-old son Bear, but she’s feeling under pressure, after Liam, 27, recently got engaged to model Maya Henry. “Her worry has been about Liam starting a new family and what that means for her,” our source says of the 37 year old. “So, Cheryl has decided to stop feeling sad about her situation and do something about it. She wants to have some happy news soon and do it on her own.”
Although Cheryl and Liam co-parent Bear, they haven’t been together since July 2018, and Cheryl has spoken about potentially having a second child using a sperm donor. And, as heat has previously reported, she is also said to have considered using a surrogate. In an interview earlier this year, Cheryl said that she felt, “very happy” about the idea, admitting it might be her best chance of baby number two. “If time was on my side and I was in my twenties, yeah, I would wait and consider more options, or wait for somebody I felt was right.”
Our insider says, “Cheryl thinks Bear would really benefit from having a brother or sister, and would rather it be her child than Maya’s. She doesn’t want to be in competition with Maya, but she does want a degree of control when it comes to Bear having a sibling. She also can’t help but feel a little pushed out of everything when it comes to her relationship with Liam, even though he is a great dad. Her other fear is that he might move to the US for good and start a family over there.”
It was back in August when Maya stepped out with her blindingly dazzling £3million engagement ring. And, obviously, there has been speculation about when they might start a family, especially as a lot of people’s wedding plans have had to be put back due to coronavirus – which, we’re told, is when Cheryl started thinking even more seriously about how to go about having a another baby.
We’re told, “At the moment, Cheryl just wants to speed up the process of having another child. Her pals are worried that it might backfire, especially if Liam does move away and is unable to help out as much – which would leave her with two kids. But Cheryl has said her family and friends will have her back and help out – she just wants to make sure she has a nice family unit for Bear.” n
