Olivia & Jason cuddle up after SHOCK SPLIT

It’s the old ‘separate lives’ problem

‘The dates and romance died a long time ago’

We were shocked to hear that Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis had split after nine years together. But it was even more baffling to see the former couple in an intimate embrace last week. The couple had been engaged for seven years and share two children – Otis, Six, and Daisy, four. While it’s not clear why the pair indulged in the PDA, a source close to the actors says their split – which apparently happened earlier this year – was a long time coming. We’re told, “They’d been living separate lives for months. They rarely did anything together, but soldiered on for a year or so, hoping for a miracle while coming together as parents, and making the occasional outing together so people didn’t gossip about what was really going on. But dates and romance died out long ago.”

Olivia – who is known for her role in House – has recently made a foray into directing. Jason, 45, played a small role in her directorial debut Booksmart in 2019, and she is currently directing Don’t Worry Darling, which will star Harry Styles and Florence Pugh, among others. And our source tells us the 36 year old is fully focused on her career. “Olivia is determined to be the next Steven Spielberg and is taking herself to the very top of Hollywood. She’s extremely ambitious and a bit of an Angelina Jolie type really, and Jason kind of just got left behind a bit. A lot of Jason’s friends think he’s better off without her.”

The pair have been engaged for the majority of their relationship – seven years – and our insider tells us Olivia just didn’t want to wholly commit. “Olivia wasn’t interested in marriage and Jason got tired of flogging a dead horse, so he pulled away and stopped pushing for it. And, in the end, things just died between them,” our source claims. “They’re trying to keep it amicable, but there’s resentment there on both sides. Olivia’s mad she wasted so many years with a guy who was more into hanging out with his buddies, while he’s bashing her for being a commitmentphobe.” n
