The one-and-only Kylie Minogue talks love, lockdown and kitchen discos

Everyone’s favourite pop star talks love, lockdown and kitchen discos

-

Back in 1988, when the still-excellent Locomotion hit the charts, we’re betting very few people thought Kylie Minogue would still be a thing 32 years later. But here she is, having just scored her eighth number one with her 15th studio album, Disco – jam-packed full of absolute bangers, including lead single Say Something . And she’s not just a thing – Kylie’s a hot pants-wearing, glitterloving, bona fide pop GODDESS. And things aren’t just going well musically for the 52-yearold star, but personally, too. Following a string of not-so-happy times – most notably a broken engagement to actor Joshua Sasse in 2017 – Kylie is now deliriously in love and living in London with her boyfriend of two years, GQ’S creative director Paul Solomons. And we couldn’t be happier for her. Here, our beloved Neighbours star-turned international treasure opens up about missing her Aussie family during lockdown, finding that forever kind of love and – because, of course, what it’s like to ride a cosmic horse…

So, what’s life in lockdown like for Kylie Minogue? Well, I think, like everyone, I miss the option of going out. I definitely miss Australia, I miss my family. Even though they are far away in Australia, I’ve always had the option to get a ticket, fly home, see my family – and that’s just on hold for a little bit. That’s probably the biggest thing I miss right now. I got away for a tiny getaway for a couple of weeks but the rest of the time, I’ve spent lockdown in my house in London being very, very quiet. I have started to enter the world with work, but really not so much for personal things. You’ve probably been able to spend a lot of time with your partner Paul in the last few months, though? Yeah, yeah. Would it be too dramatic to ask if this relationship is forever? Oh no, that’s not dramatic! I think that’s hopeful. Being realistic, we can only take each day as it comes. I’ve found someone who… we really have a great connection and a great time together. Life presents challenges and if you can get through those with someone who is understanding, then that’s brilliant.
