In a year of panic and uncertainty, it’s been nice knowing that some things will never change – pandemics be damned. The world will keep spinning; the Queen will still give her Christmas Day speech… and the Kardashians will keep proving they truly live on another planet.
And, according to insiders, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are all set to prove just how far removed they are from the real world, by making this year their most extravagant one yet. We’re talking ponies and electric cars for their kids, Botox and caviar for their hired help, and no-expenses-spared parties to ring in the festive season. Because that’s what Christmas is all about, isn’t it? Proving just how much money you have.
“They’re going all out with the kids’ stockings this year – jewellery and couture worth hundreds of thousands of dollars,” says an insider close to the understated couple, who are parents to North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, two, and one-year-old Psalm. “They’ll also be getting ponies and electric cars, plus custom-made watches and all the latest must-have toys.”
But the extravagance doesn’t stop there. “Kanye’s looking to buy Kim her own private island,” the source adds. “And she’s got a string of properties and other surprises lined up for him – plus they’re paying for the bulk of the Kardashian family Christmas party. They’ve each told their personal assistants to make this their top priority.”
There’s no denying that Kim and co don’t exactly do low-key. In October, Kim sparked a wave of criticism, after whisking her “closest inner circle” off to a private island, where they partied and “pretended things were normal just for a brief time” despite the US having one of the worst COVID records in the world. But while her detractors called her “tone-deaf”, we’re told the public backlash has done nothing to quell the reality star’s sense of expensive holiday spirit. In fact, it’s made her even more determined to go big this Christmas. And by the sound of things, she’s in a very generous mood indeed.
“Each member of their staff will be getting a big bonus cheque, as well as a hamper of goodies worth $10k, including beauty products, Botox vouchers, fine wine, Champagne and caviar,” says our source. “And the family are all being treated to pricey gifts, too, like fancy cars and luxury holidays. Kim and Kanye know people think they’re distasteful, but they argue that they both do plenty of work for good causes all year round. This is their money and it’s totally natural to them to spend big and spoil the people they love.”
