It’s amazing what a trip to Kenya can do
They put on a less-than-convincing show of unity back in October, insisting their marriage was “still strong” as they awkwardly kissed for the cameras. But four months later, Dominic West and his wife Catherine Fitzgerald are said to have put their marital problems “clearly behind them” as they were spotted last week on an epic family trip to Kenya.
Dominic, 51, hit the headlines last year, after being pictured cuddling up to actress Lily James on a trip to Rome. Rumours spread that he and Catherine were on the brink of divorce, but they refuted the claims as they gave that awkward photo call and, in a rather odd signed statement, said they were “very much still together”. And last week, they further proved they’d turned a corner, as Catherine and their four kids joined Dominic on his charity work trip to Kenya. An onlooker said, “Their problems are clearly behind them, however awkward or embarrassing it must have been. They’re clearly sorted and together with their kids and, from the body language, have forgotten all about whatever went on with Lily.”
But while Dominic’s said to have emerged unscathed from the scandal, friends of Lily say the actress hasn’t been so lucky – apparently, the 31-yearold star of The Dig feels she was publicly “slut-shamed” after being portrayed as “the other woman”.
“It’s bullying and, above all, sexist,” an insider said last week. “She sees herself as a victim of blatant slut-shaming. She finds the whole thing horribly disgusting and a nasty, incorrect label.” n
