As Holly Willoughby turns 40, there’s one present she’d quite like – another baby

Because sometimes, three kids just aren’t enough

‘She thinks the timing is perfect’

When Holly Willoughby turns 40 this week, she won’t be celebrating in the way she had planned. Instead of a huge, star-studded party, the TV presenter will be having a quiet one at home with her husband Dan and their three children, Harry, 12, Belle, ten, and six-year-old Chester. And while, like everyone else with a big birthday in lockdown, she’s obviously disappointed not to be able to pull out all the stops, being with her family is the most important thing and has made her realise that she may want one last baby.

“Holly has never really felt her family was ‘done’ despite having three kids, and she’s always broody whenever she sees babies,” our insider says. “After what’s gone on in the world over the past year, it’s made her appreciate even more how lucky she is to have Dan and the kids and now she’s got to 40, she thinks they could have one last baby. The children are growing up so fast – she misses them being really young and would love to get to experience that one more time. But she knows how lucky she is already and feels so grateful to be turning 40 with her family around her.”

Holly herself has admitted several times that she would like another baby. A few weeks ago, while presenting This Morning, she was gushing about Rochelle Humes’ new baby, Blake, when they appeared via video link. She exclaimed, “I want one of those,” much to the horror of her co-host Phillip Schofield, who retorted, “No, you don’t!” But she insisted, “I do!”

Back in 2018 she said, “I’m always broody. Part of me wants another baby, but part of me thinks that’s not a good enough reason. I’ve almost decided not to… but not quite.” And even though Phil – who described Holly as the sister he never had in a tribute for her turning 40 – has joked he’s banned Holly from having any more children, it seems she’s not listening. “Being a mum is Holly’s greatest joy and she can’t stop thinking about having another baby,” our insider adds. “She thinks the timing is perfect, especially as life is more or less on hold for the next few months – and who knows beyond that?”

The source continues, “Holly loves going out with her friends and going away for weekends with them, but with that not being able to happen at the moment and probably for quite a while longer, now may be the time. Then she can celebrate her 40th in style when all is safe, and there could be a new baby to celebrate as well.”
