It’s been a tough time for weddings, but Stacey and Joe are determined to get hitched this year

Her big wedding is looking in doubt

- KATE RANDALL

‘She’s got a sinking feeling it won’t happen’

Not one to hang about, Stacey Solomon has been excitedly getting ready for her wedding to Joe Swash ever since he proposed on Christmas Eve. She’s been keeping her four million Instagram followers up to date with her plans for their big day, showing off her wedding scrap book, homemade place settings and invites, and even a bespoke guest book.

But despite Stacey’s best super-organised attempts, the ever-changing coronavirus restrictions are threatening to derail her plans – and now the couple are thinking they may even be better off eloping. “Stacey and Joe have a date and she was hoping that by the end of summer things would have returned to normal, but the more time goes on, the more she realises that might not be the case,” an insider says. “She’s drawn up so many grand plans, but the way things are looking, it’ll just be her, Joe and a few family members. She’s already made her invites and loads of the decorations, and put down deposits for things like the venue, catering and flowers– she wanted to support local businesses and she wants her big dream wedding. She doesn’t want to put it off either, but she’s got this sinking feeling that the day she’s been dreaming of all this time won’t happen.”

Stacey – who has 20-month-old son Rex with Joe, as well as Zachary, 13, and Leighton, eight, from previous relationships – has already told fans they don’t know how many people they will be able to invite, but they are desperate to have as many people as possible join them. Our source adds, “One thing Stacey doesn’t want is everyone having to wear PPE with their wedding finery. She hates the idea of not being able to see guests’ faces through masks. Joe is being easy-going and has told Stacey not to get so worked up about it all – but even he agrees that he doesn’t like the idea of guests feeling uncomfortable and not knowing what is and what isn’t allowed.”

And Stacey, 31, and Joe, 39, have even joked they may be better off eloping as they want to get married this year.

“Marrying Joe is Stacey’s priority this year, she just wants to be Mrs Swash,” we’re told. “So, if restrictions aren’t eased, she has said they might elope with just her, Joe and the boys and have a party when they can. She thinks that will still be romantic and show everyone how much they love each other.” n
