‘I’m sorry… but this woman is vile’
Brace yourselves, it’s time for an epic celeb battle. In one corner, we have Gemma Collins, Essex’s legendary diva, who makes fellow reality stars tremble and underlings whimper. In the other corner, we have Charlotte Crosby, the top dog of the Toon, who may not appear to be quite as fearsome as her opponent, but she’s no less tough. And each side is pulling no punches.
The drama kicked off last week, after Gemma made her highly publicised appearance on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories, during which she opened up about her heartbreak over on/off boyfriend James “Arg” Argent’s drug addictions, and spoke of her own mental health struggles. The 40 year old was praised for her “bravery” and “honesty” during the tell-all chat, with viewers saying they’d seen a raw, more vulnerable side to her. But amid all the fanfare, there was one person who most definitely wasn’t buying what the GC was selling. Posting on her Insta-stories, Charlotte, 30, wrote, “I can’t hold my tongue any longer,” before labelling Gemma “the most rudest, vilest woman I’ve been in the airspace of” and complaining that Piers had given her this prized “exposure”. She continued, “I’m sorry, but this needs to be said now. This woman is vile! What has this girl done on TV, but degrade everyone and act like she’s the dog’s bollocks? I have firsthand witnessed her ABSOLUTE RUDENESS.”
Charlotte’s post was later removed, but she wasn’t alone in her outrage. Shortly afterwards, Gemma’s former TOWIE castmate Saffron Lempriere voiced her support for the MTV star’s outburst. “Not just one of us,” she wrote. “[Gemma] thinks she’s in an untouchable bubble… treated me like a dogsbody & lied beyond belief nobody knows half… Ironically, I was contacted by Life Stories to chat on there [and] trust me that would never have gone down well.”
Charlotte and Gemma share many mutual friends, and often attend the same raucous reality TV parties – they were pictured together looking friendly at the Cannes Festival in 2016 – but you know what they say about keeping your enemies close…
While Charlotte made her feelings very clear last week, Gemma decided to keep things slightly more subtle in response, while still making it plain that she was not to be messed with. Taking to her Instagram account, the GC posted a selfie in a hoodie with the words, “You’re obsessed with me & I love it,” emblazoned across the front.
Still, something tells us this mother-of-all-diva feuds is far from over. Anyone else hoping that Piers Morgan gets them both on his show to thrash it out in front of the nation? Now, that would make compelling TV.
