Katie ‘breaks lockdown’ for romantic weekend

Celebrating Valentine’s is essential work, OK?

- CHARLOTTE OLIVER

They say that love means never having to say you’re sorry. But it seemed like Katie Price had an apology or two to dole out last week, after landing herself in hot water with her fans – and the police – over her curious Valentine’s Day plans.

The drama unfolded after Katie gave a gushing interview, in which she claimed Carl had surprised her with a “love cabin” that he’d set up in his back garden over the weekend. She posted pictures of said cabin on Instagram, too. The couple also posed for photos outside her rented Surrey home on the annual day of love, as Carl surprised Katie yet again with two bouquets of “everlasting” flowers, including an actual gold rose, worth £10k.

But all wasn’t as it seemed. While Katie had previously insisted that Carl had built the cabin in the garden himself – adding, “So much thought has gone into it and he didn’t get anything for free” – it actually turned out that the couple had travelled nearly 200 miles to stay at Henlle Hall, a woodland resort in Shropshire. They arrived on the Saturday – the day before Valentine’s – and were spotted in the area, prompting a visit from the police, who were told they were there for work purposes. They were later pictured leaving Henlle Hall on Monday – meaning that flower-filled photo shoot outside Katie’s property had actually been staged ahead of time, potentially to put us off the scent.

So, did they break the rules? Technically, no. According to a police statement, “It was found that they were there for legitimate business purposes and weren’t issued with any fines.” A Henlle Hall spokesperson later confirmed that Katie and Carl had travelled there for a clothing photo shoot “at no charge”. But Katie’s apparent attempts to pull the wool over her followers’ eyes didn’t go unchecked, with fans expressing their fury that she’d go to such extreme measures to cover her tracks. n
