After being unmasked as the Sausage on The Masked Singer, Joss Stone has been headline news everywhere. The 33 year old – who performed on the show while five months pregnant – has revealed how much she loved being up onstage again, and an insider tells heat she’s hoping it’s just the beginning of a comeback.
“Appearing on The Masked Singer was a full-circle moment for Joss,” our source says. “She started her career on the BBC talent show Star For A Night, and she’s now hoping that being on prime-time TV again will help the big plans she has. It was an emotional roller coaster – being pregnant at the time of filming – and she had been waiting for the big finale to air. She was a bit worried about how the public would react, but she’s so happy with how it’s all gone.”
Joss – who lives in Tennessee with boyfriend Cody Daluz and their 12-week-old daughter Violet – shot to worldwide fame at the age of 16, but hasn’t released an album for six years. Recently, she admitted she now wants to make career choices based on her happiness, saying, “I never want to stop singing, because I find it fun. I miss my band, I miss music, I miss seeing people smile and having that connection.”
Our source adds, “Joss has had incredible highs and lows in her career, and isn’t interested in going back to those days when she was Grammy and Mercury Prize-nominated. Now, as a mum, she really wants to appeal to a different, wider audience.”
We’re told the singer – whose hits such as You Had Me still reportedly make her £500k a year – loved showing off her quirky side through Sausage on the show. Last week, she said, “We need to be able to laugh and not take life so seriously.”
Our insider says, “Joss thinks that, by singing as a sausage on national TV, her career will get a new lease of life. She did The Masked Singer to show that she’s a good sport. She would love a steady gig presenting a show, as she doesn’t want to be hitting the road on tour all of the time. She’s got a lot of ideas about being back on TV, having new music out, and sharing what her life is like now as a mother.” n
