Britney Spears’ #Freebritney drama intensifies as she prepares to release her “prison” diaries
She’s keeping a written record of life in her ‘prison’
‘Britney’s found it incredibly cathartic’
After the release of the shocking documentary Framing Britney Spears – detailing the singer’s conservatorship and the #Freebritney movement – Britney’s fans are even more concerned about what’s going on behind closed doors. Now, an insider tells heat that the 39 year old is preparing to tell her side of the story, and has been keeping diaries of her experience under the conservatorship.
“Every night, Britney records the highs and lows of each day in a private diary that’s hidden in her room – and once that journal is full, she hands it to one of the few people she trusts and starts afresh,” we’re told. “She’s done this since childhood, although many of those early ledgers wound up in the bin or storage facilities. But Britney’s found it incredibly cathartic to tell her side of the story, and her dream is to share it with the world someday.” In a hearing two weeks ago, a judge upheld the ruling that her father Jamie Spears should share responsibility over Britney’s finances with independent company Bessemer Trust. Jamie had requested to keep his previous level of control over Britney’s investments, while Britney herself had asked that he be removed entirely. It’s a small step towards some form of freedom after 13 years of the singer living in a sort of court-appointed “prison”, with others controlling her personal and financial affairs.
“She is aware that there are people fighting for her to have more freedom, and it gives her a lot of comfort and hope,” our source shares. “But she also knows that the legal process is complicated, and it’ll take a lot for her to get full control of her life again. In the meantime, she makes the best of what she has, including her relationship with Sam [Asghari]. He’s her rock, and she would love to marry him one day.” Sam – who has been vocal in his support of the singer and disdain for her father – shared a snap of the couple on Valentine’s Day, saying, “After chocolate, I’m her favourite.
Happy chocolate day, lioness.”
And while she is upbeat and positive on her Instagram – with many fans believing there are hidden clues in her eccentric posts – we’re told her journals are therapeutic for her. “There are a lot of regrets and confusion as to why she can’t make her own decisions,” our source explains. “By writing this diary, Britney has been processing those frustrations and opening up about things she can’t tell the people in her life right now.” ■
