Eve Hewson: ‘My dad’s a crazy stage mum’
Look out, Kris Jenner – Bono is after your crown
It’s no secret that having a celebrity parent opens a few doors – but if you ask Bono’s daughter Eve Hewson, her dad’s taken things to the extreme. According to the actress, who’s currently receiving rave reviews for her role in Netflix’s Behind Her Eyes, the U2 frontman is giving Kris Jenner a run for her money as a momager – or should that be PR (paternal relations)?
“I always say that my dad’s a crazy stage mother,” said the 29 year old last week. “Whenever we’re out and about, he’s always introducing me and talking about me, and he gives my full movie credits to whoever we’re having dinner with.” She added that she’s worked hard to establish herself in her own right. “To be honest, I was never going to have my anonymity and be a regular Joe,” said the star, who also appeared in last year’s mega-hit Normal People. “I was always going to have eyes on me, whatever I did. So, it’s been great to build my own identity and my own career, and feel like I’m an individual now, as opposed to a part of something or someone else.”
As for the other perks of having a famous dad, she said that she and her sister Jordan, 31, definitely benefited from growing up around hot musicians, until Bono spoiled the fun. “We were little troublemakers,” she revealed. “It got to a point in my teens when my dad couldn’t hire good-looking support bands any more. He was like, ‘No more boys in their twenties, please God!’” n
