COL’S HOLIDAY DRAMAS

Isolating with four Rooney boys isn’t exactly relaxing

‘It would be like lockdown times ten’

Let’s face it, we could all do with a holiday right now, but spare a thought for poor Coleen Rooney. The 34-year-old WAG is famed for her love of jetting off to sunnier climes whenever she gets the chance, especially Barbados, where they have a second home. Sadly, she’s not had a chance to go there (or anywhere) since summer, and we’re told she’s itching to get away. But there’s one thing holding her back: the thought of having to quarantine in an airport hotel with four boisterous boys when they get back. And who can blame her?

“Coleen is desperate to go on holiday and she’s counting down the days until she can,” our source explains. “It’s been six months since she last went away, and while she was so grateful that she could, she’s ready to go somewhere hot again . Homeschooling four boys and having them with her all the time can be tough. As soon as she’s allowed to, she’s hoping for an extended holiday to Barbados. But she’s really worried about the government changing the red country list at any minute, meaning she could find herself living in a hotel room with her four boys for two weeks to quarantine. As much as she loves the boys, she’s not ready to risk having them all being stuck together in such a small space. It would be like lockdown times ten.”

At the moment, there is a “red list” of countries, and under current COVID rules, anybody who arrives in the UK from one of them has to quarantine in a government-approved hotel for ten days, with no exceptions. While international travel is expected to resume on 18 May in England, there’s been no confirmation about whether there will be still be a red list, and officials have said it can be added to with less than a day’s notice. And with husband Wayne – who is currently manager at Derby County – only getting limited time off this summer due to the football season, we’re told Coleen doesn’t want to be on her own with Kai, 11, Klay, seven, Kit, five, and three-year-old Cass.

“The thought of being locked up with all four of them, and not being able to go anywhere, is not something many parents would relish,” our insider adds. “It’s not like she’d get special treatment or be able to pay to stay in a luxury hotel. She really has to weigh up if going on holiday is worth it at the moment, or whether she’d be better off just staying at home.” n
