She prides herself on keeping it real, but Charlotte Crosby’s about to prove she’s one Mysterious Girl after all. Next week, we’ll see the Geordie Shore legend step into the Cuban heels of Peter Andre, as she enters The Celebrity Circle undercover, and does her best to prove to her fellow celebs that she’s actually the Aussie crooner.
It’s certainly a new look for the refreshingly honest reality star, who hit the headlines last month after calling out Gemma Collins for her apparent “rudeness” and claiming the GC was “the most rudest, vilest woman I’ve been in the airspace of”.
Speaking to heat, Charlotte, 30, tells us that – while catfishing fellow celebs for charity is a bit of fun (the show’s in aid of Stand Up To Cancer) – she’s far more comfortable when she’s telling the truth and calling out BS…
So, what made you choose Peter as your alter-ego? Well, my first choice was Eamonn Holmes, but you have to get permission off them. It was taking ages for Eamonn’s agent to get back to us and it was all so long-winded, so we went back to the drawing board and looked at all the different options. Out of all of them, Peter was my favourite. Did Peter give you his blessing? Yeah, he was so happy. I took his autobiography in there and I’ve now learnt so much about him! I could go on Mastermind now about him. Ironically, Loose Women’s Nadia Sawalha and Kaye Adams were pretending to be Gemma Collins [the show was filmed before Charlotte’s outburst] – did you believe it was her? No, because I’d seen she’d been on a photo shoot abroad, so I thought there’s no way she’s getting back in time for this. You took to Instagram with your thoughts about Gemma. Did you feel it was important to put that out there? To be honest, I’ve met Gemma loads of times and she’s been lovely to me, but I saw that her treatment of others could be very unkind – well, absolutely awful. I know it was controversial, but I just think you’ve got to be kind yourself if you expect others to be kind to you. What was the reaction like? I had a lot of messages from other celebs saying it was about time. Sadly, it feels like you get everywhere by being horrible to people. I think that’s what got my back up – because you can work so hard and be so kind and try to be the nicest person, but you don’t seem to get anywhere. That’s what’s so sad about it. n
