She normally keeps her mum life private, instead focusing on asking celebs about their personal lives. But Alison Hammond celebrated Mother’s Day last week by lifting the lid on her close bond with her 16-year-old son Aidan, revealing, “[He] is my twin, who was born 30 years after me.” She also spoke about her regrets over not having more children, and revealed she was considering adoption as she had “so much more love to give”.

“I was so nervous about becoming a mum in the beginning,” Alison, 46, said in an interview last week, while posing alongside Aidan. “I look back and think, ‘What was I nervous about?’ He has enriched my life in ways I never even imagined. He’s brought so much joy, I can’t imagine life without him.”

Alison was previously married to Aidan’s father Noureddine Boufaied, but they split while their son was still young, and – despite having a few serious relationships since then – she’s largely raised him by herself. In 2014, she was engaged to security guard Jamie Savage, although they split three years later. At the time, Alison said, “It’s the worst news ever. I don’t think I want anyone else now.”

Last year, Alison had another stab at finding love on Celebs Go Dating – and for a brief moment, it seemed she’d found it, after coupling up with 41-year-old actor Ben Kusi. Speaking on This Morning last year, Alison said, “I’ve never really been put in a situation where I’ve gone dating. It’s just so alien to me. I’ve met this guy called Ben. He’s like the yin to my yang… he’s just really kind, he’s got a good heart, he listened to what I’ve got to say.” But sadly, the relationship fizzled out later that year.

But now it seems that Alison has little time to worry about her love life these days. She more than has her hands full raising Aidan and slaying at doing her new job, presenting the Friday slot on This Morning alongside Dermot O’leary, after they replaced Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford in January. Meanwhile, in addition to her soaring career, Alison has said that she has plenty more plans for the future involving expanding her brood. “My one wish would be that I’d had more children,” she revealed. “I wish I’d had another three back then. I would totally consider adoption in the future. I’ve got so much more love to give – I don’t think I’m done with one child, I’m just not.”
