Liam: ‘I gave Bear some toys over the fence!’
He’s co-parenting at a distance
Sure, government restrictions may be easing, but it seems that Cheryl and her ex Liam Payne are taking no chances when it comes to their four-year-old son Bear. According to Liam, he’s still co-parenting at a distance, and was even forced to deliver some presents to his son “over the fence” last week. But apparently, that hasn’t put any strain on his relationship with the two of them. In fact, Liam – who showed off a new look last week, with a beard and wavy bob – says they’re a closer family unit than ever before.
“Cheryl is literally the best person to co-parent with,” said Liam, 27, in an interview last week – adding to the constant stream of praise he’s had for the “great mum” since they split in 2018. “No stress involved. It’s very, very relaxed and we spend a lot of time on Facetime…
And I’m closer to them than I’ve ever been before, actually, which is really, really nice.”
Last year, Liam and his fiancée Maya Henry moved from his London home into a rented £5m Buckinghamshire mansion in order to be nearer to Bear and Cheryl. But he’s previously explained the hoops he has to jump through to see them in person, revealing he needs to get tested for COVID before each visit.
Speaking last week, he said that he was still sticking to some socially distanced parenting. “Bedtime Facetime can go really well sometimes,” he said. “Or, I bought him some toys yesterday that I showed them on Facetime, and it was like I had to go and travel over and hand the toys over the fence!”
