‘Getting a new dog is all about moving on with her life’
Having now set up home together, we’re told Lisa Armstrong and her boyfriend James Green are looking to take things to the next level. A source close to the couple tells heat they’re very keen to welcome a fourlegged friend into their lives.
“Lisa and James have been talking about getting a dog for a while now and they’ve finally got to a place where they’re ready for it,” says our insider. “Lisa has been looking at different options, and they’re so close to finding their new family member. Lisa has said she feels that them getting a puppy is a huge step. It was the ultimate bond for her and Ant, and although there are painful memories attached to that experience, it feels like the time is right for her and James now.” During their 12-year marriage, Lisa and Ant Mcpartlin became doting owners of chocolate Labrador Hurley, and after separating in 2018, the pair now share custody of the seven-yearold pooch. After starting dating James last year, we’re told Lisa – who hinted she was feeling puppy broody by posting a throwback snap of Hurley on Instagram last week – now feels ready to take this special step with him. “Lisa and James have such a down-to-earth relationship. Everything feels honest, real and more on an even keel, which is the complete opposite to what she had with Ant. She considers Hurley her firstborn fur baby, and that will always be the case, but now she wants to open up her life to a new member of the family – giving her and James a tighter bond than ever.”
Ant, 45, and his now-fiancée, Anne-marie welcomed two Maltipoo puppies not long after they moved in together in 2018. But we’re told that Lisa didn’t want to move too fast with James. “Lisa feels like she hasn’t had to rush into anything at all,” says the insider. “She always said she knew she would get another dog when the time felt right, and now it does. It’s another sign that her and James have been going from strength to strength.”
Lisa has clearly been keen to show her fans how happy she is at the moment, and has posted multiple loved-up selfies with James, as well as a throwback girls-night-out pic with actress pal Clare Buckfield – who used to date Declan Donnelly.
“For Lisa, getting a new dog is all about moving on with her life and having a fresh start with James,” our source explains. “She’s really looking forward to them bonding over this and feeling even more secure in their loving relationship.” n
