In her first solo interview since leaving Little Mix in December, Jesy Nelson neglected to mention her current relationship with her three former bandmates. And after admitting how “miserable” she was during her time in the group, a source has said that she is keen to break ties with Perrie Edwards, Jade Thirlwall, and Leigh-anne Pinnock.
“The plan was always to stay in touch, but that just hasn’t happened because Jesy didn’t want it,” the source claimed. “She wants to sever ties and start again – that seems to be both professionally and personally.”
Fans were quick to notice that Jesy posted about being the cover star of Cosmopolitan on the same day that Leigh-anne announced her pregnancy. In Jesy’s interview, she admitted that she “constantly compared [herself] to the others”. She also revealed that filming the music video for Little Mix song Sweet Melody was the “breaking point”, explaining that she’d had a panic attack and wasn’t able to film a particular scene with the girls.
“I looked at the other three and they were having the time of their life,” she said. “I get so jealous because I want to feel like that and enjoy it, because music is my passion.”
A source revealed that the girls were quite shocked by some of Jesy’s comments in the interview. “The truth is, the girls really thought Jesy would take a break for a while rather than come back as a solo artist immediately. That feels like a bit of a dig, and some of the things Jesy has said took them by surprise. Things have changed a lot and there’s a clear divide now.” ■
