Beat the booze

Pubs are back – and so are our sore heads. Here’s how to help your hangover

-

1 MOJU Ginger Shot, Mojudrinks.com, £43.90 for 24 Raw ginger is a cure for headaches, great for digestion, and packed with antioxidants. This handy shot certainly gave us a jump start when we were tempted to pull the duvet back over our head, and it also set us up for eating a good breakfast, which we might not have been able to stomach otherwise. HHHH

2 Altrient Liposomal Vitamin C, Abundanceandhealth.co.uk £39.99 for 30; Altrient Liposomal Glutathione, £79.99 for 30

Take one of each sachet before and after a big night out by squeezing the gel formulas into a shot glass of water and knocking it back like a tequila. The glutathione, which breaks down the toxins produced by your liver, smells of rotten eggs, so shot it fast to avoid the taste. The science seems sound, but we still had to lie in bed most of the day feeling tender. HH

3 3 Clear Heads, Yetiandthefox.com, £12.99 for

three packs Take two of these tablets as you start drinking and pop the last one before bed. They contain glutathione and vitamin B6 – an antioxidant superhero. This was so easy, and in the morning, our head felt unusually clear for the amount of booze consumed. HHHHH

4 After Party Vitamin Energy Shots, Potionlife.com, £10 for

six Dilute this overly sweet tropical tasting sachet into water or shot it straight from the packet. We had more energy after taking it, but it didn’t cure our headache or the need for a big plate of greasy food. HH

5 Raw Linden Honey, Honeytradition.com, £13.95 On a relatively mild hangover, we

had a whole teaspoon of this raw honey and soon felt good enough to go out for a run. The hit of sugar is what really helps, and honey is great for detoxifying the liver and fighting off inflammation, too. HHHH 6 Dairy-free Chocolate Milkshake, Shakenudder.com, £18 for a pack of eight

This dairy-free milkshake substitute tasted as if it had come from a cow – totally creamy and sweet, just as it should be. On a mild hangover, it was a great pick-me-up sugar hit and settled our stomach a treat. HHHH

7 Mrs Elswood Whole Sweet Cucumbers Pickled Pickles, ASDA, £1.70 Pickle juice is loaded with the electrolytes you need to replenish after a night out, but we’d say that if you can stomach this, you didn’t drink enough the night before! The only way to get through it is to imagine it’s a Big Mac in liquid form and hope for the best. H

8 Pro Plus Ultra, Superdrug, £6.99 The new formulation of these tablets contains vitamins B6 and B12, which help to combat tiredness and fatigue. If you need to get your head in the game for work, these are a great virtual kick up the bum. They also contain slow-release caffeine and ginseng, ensuring we stayed on the ball all day. Result. HHHH

9 The Energy Booster, Liveinnermost.com, £24.95 Add this vegan-friendly powder to water and gulp it down for plenty of vitamins. You’ll need to do a lot of shaking, as it can be grainy, but the pineapple flavour wasn’t sickly sweet and went down no problem. It didn’t get rid of the sore head, but we definitely felt perkier for the rest of the day. HHHH
