Milestone for mums and babies service

-

THE community initiative Mummy and Me – a free, professional service for mums with babies under 12 months old across Torbay – has just become a registered charity, less than three years on from its foundation.

Mummy and Me celebrated with its very first fundraiser, The Easter Eggstravaganza at St Matthias church, Wellswood.

Local businesses, Toddler Sense Torbay and Baby Sensory Torbay ran family fun sessions enjoyed by the many mothers and babies who attended.

Rector of St Matthias church, John Beckett presented the story of Easter in an engaging style, inviting families to join in with Easter celebrations at church over the bank holiday weekend. Baby Easter sensory play helped everyone get into the spirit of the season.

A rewarding total of funds was raised afterwards with an auction and a raffle featuring mum and baby-themed prizes, as well as a cake sale.

When all the excitement was over, mothers had some quiet time to rummage through a free baby clothes and toy swap area for great bargains.

If you’ve recently had a new baby, you could benefit from an informal group with helpful professional advice, education, music and movement with your baby, fun activities and social contact with other new mums. Call Lena Fearnley, founder of Mummy and Me, on 0790 337 6340.
