Drugs worth £285k seized

-

NEARLY £300,000 worth of drugs have been seized on the streets of Brixham and Paignton by police during their drug-busting Operation Olympic.

In the latest swoop of the year-long campaign, police in protective kit armed with battering rams raided a home in Brixham.

Writing on their Facebook page they said: “One #OpOlympic subject has recently been evicted from his home address, with another awaiting eviction. Another is currently awaiting Crown Court sentencing. Multiple files are being completed for submission after some lengthy inquiries and other investigations remain ongoing.”

Police say they have also intercepted a so-called ‘County Lines’ gang bringing drugs into South Devon from elsewhere in the country.

A spokesman added: “A County Lines drug gang has been prevented from settling in Brixham and are no longer with us. They expected to stay for some time but their visit lasted around an hour, due to community information and subsequent police action.”

Around £285,000 worth of drugs have been seized as part of Operation Olympic so far, including heroin, cocaine, crack cocaine, cannabis, amphetamine and ecstasy.

The spokesman went on: “The vast majority of Op Olympic’s achievements are down to the community’s assistance, and your continued help is very much appreciated. Community assistance and information is imperative to the success of policing activity.” To give information about crime anonymously call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
