Olympic champ backs hospice
WORLD and Olympic champion cyclist Victoria Pendleton has added her support to a major fundraising bike ride happening in South Devon next month.
Ride for Rowcroft on October 14 will raise vital funds for Torquay’s Rowcroft Hospice.
The previous two events have helped raise more than £100,000 to help support the 2,000 people cared for by passionate and dedicated Rowcroft Hospice staff each year.
This year’s event will launch a new challenge, a 32km, up-hill course, the Haytor Hillclimb, alongside the smoother ‘classic’ route.
Double Olympic and nine-times World Champion Victoria Pendleton said: “I encourage as many people as possible to take to the open road in the beautiful South Devon countryside for this great event!
“Whether you’re a regular cyclist going against the clock, a group of friends who enjoy riding together, or you just fancy challenging yourself to complete the course, I really hope lots of people will join in to make this the biggest and best year yet.
