Bucks Reserves continue fine start with win

WBW SOLICITORS SOUTH DEVON LEAGUE

- BY NEIL HOCKING

Three first half goals at Homers Heath set the South Devon League Premier leaders Buckland Athletic Reserves on course for their fourth straight league win in a so far unblemished start to the season.

Kofi Shaw opened up the scoring against Paignton Villa, finishing off some good work from Lorin Newcombe, who scored himself just two minutes later.

Joe Constantinou rounded off the first half goals, applying the final touch to a superb team move for 3-0.

However, this was to be a classic game of two halves as a change in formation saw Villa turn things around after the break. The visitors scored twice and came close to an equaliser as Buckland made some late errors.

But Neil Snell's side held on to gratefully collect another three points.

The only other side with a 100 per cent record are second-placed Dartmouth AFC.

They put four past Brixham AFC Reserves without reply, Lee Morgan scoring twice and Bradley Frost and Louie Roberts with the other strikes.

Unbeaten East Allington United complete the top three after winning 2-0 away at Chudleigh Athletic. Andy Davis returned to the Pirates' side with a goal and Rob Tapper also made the score-sheet.

Kingsteignton Athletic picked up their first win at the third time of asking. After failing to find the net in their previous two games, the Rams finally found their scoring boots, beating Kingskerswell & Chelston 6-2 at Broadpark.

Watcombe Wanderers also enjoyed their first win of the campaign, Connor Finch with a brace and Mike Fieldhouse also on target in a 3-0 win away at Totnes & Dartington.

In Division One, there were hat-tricks galore as leaders Ivybridge Town Reserves made it three out of three with no fewer than three trebles scored in their 9-2 home victory over Babba- combe Corinthians.

Alex Henniker, Matt Hill and Bradley Lowe all have claims on the match ball, while Connor and Jordan Charlesworth managed a goal apiece for Corries.

Joshua Clarke's goal for Watcombe Wanderers Reserves earned the Greens a home point against Newton Abbot 66 with Tom Carne scoring for the visitors. The point was enough to move Watcombe up to second.

Salcombe Town are in third spot after dropping their first points of the season drawing 3-3 with Beesands Rovers.
