Brixham see off Stoke in penalty shoot-out
SOUTH WEST PENINSULA LEAGUE
Brixham clinched their place in the second round following a thrilling penalty shoot-out win against local rivals Stoke Gabriel.
After the tie finished 1-1 after 120 minutes, with Kieran Parkin on target for Brixham and Liam Moseley netting for Stoke, and with little between the sides, Brixham emerged victorious, winning 4-3 on penalties.
They will travel to Holsworthy in the second round on Saturday October 20.
Newton Abbot Spurs crashed out of the competition on the wrong end of a 9-0 defeat at Torpoint Athletic.
John Heveran gave Torpoint Athletic an 11th minute lead and a superb long range effort from Rory Simmonds doubled their lead. Danny Zalick continued his fine goalscoring form with a first half hat-trick to make it 5-0.
Sam West added a sixth after the break, before Scott Blatchford completed the rout with a quick-fire hat-trick.
Teignmouth sealed a second round date away to Ilfracombe Town after winning 1-0 at Appledore.
Matthew Eves scored the all-important winner for Teignmouth in what was a hard-earned, but deserved win for the Division One East side.
In Division One East, Waldon Athletic, who were awarded a walkover in the League Cup after Liverton United were unable to raise a team, went down to a disappointing 4-1 defeat at Crediton United on Monday evening.
Waldon have been handed a home tie against Premier Division side Bodmin Town.
