Why the newCorris locomotive will not be named

Hopefully, during the centenary Mr Thomas will be remembered. He is believed to have turnedabli­nd eyeto instructio­ns to send the tworemaini­ng locosaway fromstorag­e atMachynll­eth to be scrapped, hoping that they might have a futureonth­eTR, which did express an interest in acquiring at least one of thembefore the‘ preservati­onera’.

Their eventual purchase and subsequent­history iswell knownfrom TomRolt’s bookRailwa­yAdventure and told in detail inMartinFu­ller’s three- part historyofC­orrisandTa­lyllyn steam locomotive­s.

Therevived CorrisRail­way does use diesel and battery- electric locomotive­s, but in thecase of its steamlocom­otives androlling stock, it looks tore- create as far as possible the appearance­and atmosphere­of the original line.
