First- ever summer season action at London’s Actondepot this August

LONDONTran­sportMuseu­m’s ActonTownd­epot will reopen for visitors for10days inAugust in what is its first- ever summer season.

Thedepot will be from Wednesday, August 19 to Sunday the 23rdand fromWednes­day, August 26 to Sunday, August 30 from 11am to 6pm.

The LondonTran­sportMinia­ture Railway will beopen for service, with passengers able to travel on models of vintage London Undergroun­d trains used on the Metropolit­an line between the 1920s and 1960s.

Tickets to ride on the miniature railway will be available to buy separately on the dayusing contactles­s payments.

A special family- friendly trail will takepeople on a journey through the depot to discover the stories of historic vehicles, including a yellowVict­orian horse- drawn ‘ garden seat’bus dating from 1881 to a 1938 Stock tube train.

Children will receive a special, sealed pack, which will include a fun craft kit to makeduring the visit and a take- home activity.

Museum director Sam Mullins said:“Opening our depot for a summer season is unpreceden­ted for us.

“However, when we started thinking about reopening, we wanted to try something new by offering families a safe, local, funday out during the summer holidays, with social distancing and newsafetym­easures inplace.”

Adult tickets cost £ 15 and are £ 7.50 for children aged 4- 17.

LondonTran­sport Museum in Covent Garden, including its popular Hidden London exhibition, will reopen in the autumn.
