Take the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways to the Monopoly board!
ITS 40-mile route already twisting around the stunning landscapes of Snowdonia, the Ffestiniog & Welsh Highland Railways has again been extended – this time on to the Monopoly board game.
A new official Monopoly: Eryri Edition has hit the shops, featuring the Ff&WHR on the cover of the box, a montage in the centre of the board, a mention on a Chance card, and its own game tile.
Other landmarks included are Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), which replaces Mayfair, while Ty Hyll (The Ugly House) displaces Old Kent Road. Portmeirion village and Harlech Castle (featuring in a set of three different castles) also get tiles.
“The response from the public to the edition has been overwhelming,” said Yasmin East, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK. “A big thank-you to those who sent in nominations and congratulations to everyone featured.”
In addition to the bespoke squares, all of the tokens are customised, replacing traditional Monopoly counters with a Carneddau pony, a campervan, a sleeping dragon, hiking boots, a castle tower – and a railway carriage.
The Chance and Community Chest cards are also bespoke. One reads: “You have won second prize in a sheepdog trialling contest,” replacing the ‘beauty contest’ card from the classic original. The game is available to purchase from www.festrail.co.uk/shop/ and from Waterstones, Yesteryear Toy Shop, and many other outlets on the internet.
