Hamlet visits Hinckley

-

LIVE events at Hinckley’s Cineworld continue this week with a performance of Hamlet screened direct from the RSC.

Tickets are on sale for the show which starts at 7pm tonight, Wednesday June 8. Rising star Paapa Essiedu takes the title role in Shakespeare’s great tragedy, live from the Bard’s home town.

The cinema has hosted five performances so far this year and a further six are already on sale for the coming months.

The most popular has been The Railway Children, which was a matinee showing on Easter Monday. Also this week on Thursday the picture house is having an encore performance of Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth II in The Audience. This production enjoyed a sold out West End run and won two Olivier Awards, including one for Helen Mirren’s performance.

The first live concert will be on July 23 with acclaimed violinist Andre Rieu performing at Maastricht - with Cineworld’s big screen and the 5.1 digital surround sound, it’ll be just like being there.

On July 7 the Shakespeare season continues with Kenneth Branagh’s Romeo and Juliet. This will be a live event and features Richard Madden (Game of Thrones), Lily James and Derek Jacobi.

The cinema also has Cymbeline on September 28 and King Lear on October 12, both of which are RSC events, broadcast live from Stratford upon Avon.
