Man charged with GBH after dad hospitalis­ed

A MAN has been charged with attempted GBH following an attack in Barwell which hospitalis­ed a dad.

Police were called to Chapel Street, in Top Town, at 2.45am on Saturday.

A 54-year-old man was found with serious injuries described as “not life-threatenin­g” by police.

He was taken to George Eliot Hospital in Nuneaton.

He was discharged from hospital on Sunday and is recovering at his Hinckley home.

Dean Sainsbury, 26, has been charged with attempted GBH.

He appeared before Leicester Magistrate­s’ Court on Monday and has been remanded into custody.

A 39-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of causing ABH and was bailed pending further enquiries.

Leicesters­hire Police said in a statement: “Police were called around 2.45am to reports of an altercatio­n on Chapel Street, Bar- well, on Saturday June 11.

“Dean Sainsbury, 26, has been charged with attempted GBH and remains in custody following a hearing at Leicester Magistrate­s’ Court on Monday June 13.

“A 39-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing ABH and has been bailed pending further enquiries.

“A 54-year-old victim sustained injuries which are not life-changing or life threatenin­g.”
