Friends open dream gift shop

-

TWO friends who were made redundant from Hinckley’s Co-op store have followed their dream by opening a new shop in the town.

Michelle Dalby and Andrea Knight have opened Curiosity Boutique in Regent Court.

The shop sells a range of quirky, ornate and unusual items, including alchemy steam-punk Gothic jewellery, artificial flowers, handmade wax melts and granules, Pendle witches and a range of vintage collectables.

The pair became close friends while working together on visual merchandising at the Co-op department store, before it closed in January.

Michelle, 45, said: “We spoke about opening our own store for a long time and when we were made redundant we decided to just go for it.

“We originally opened a boutique in Nuneaton, but we missed Hinckley too much and when this opportunity came up we jumped on it.”

Andrea, 31, added: “The shop is mixture of our personalities, we stock a variety of unusual and vintage collectables which are designed to make people curious - hence the name.

“We opened on May 28 and so far it is going very well.

“We have had lots of support from former Co-op customers, they have been great.”

The shop, which is around the corner from The Baron of Hinckley, on Regent Street, is open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
