Tips to combat terrorism offered to businesses

-

COUNTER-TERRORISM advice is being offered to businesses in Hinckley and Bosworth.

Firms are invited to a free briefing next month to receive tips on how they can protect their business, staff and communities from the threat of terrorism.

The event is being organised by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council in partnership with logistics firm Neovia and Leicestershire Police.

It aims to help firms understand the threat from terrorism to the UK, guide individuals on what to do in the event of an attack, encourage people to recognise and report suspicious activity and advise on how firms can help make a more hostile environment for criminals.

Councillor Kevin Morrell, executive member responsible for the rural communities and tourism, licensing and environmental services, said: “I would encourage businesses to sign up for the briefing as it will help to inform them and their staff on the risk of terrorism to their business and how to protect themselves.”

The event will take place at Neovia, on Peckleton Lane, Desford, on June 16 from 9.30am to 12.30pm and will be presented by trained counter-terrorism security advisers.

Places are limited but additional briefings may be held on other dates if there is sufficient interest.
