Future newshounds cover appeal

-

BUDDING journalists at a Hinckley primary school have written newspaper style reports to encourage people to donate clothes to a refugee charity.

Children at Richmond Primary School were visited by Barwell-based charity Feed the Hungry.

The youngsters were taught about the refugee crisis and helped to fold clothes which will be donated to families fleeing their war-torn countries.

Some of the future newshounds took the opportunity to urge the public to donate clothes to the charity by writing newspaper articles.

Tilly in year five wrote: “On Friday the 22nd of April, Richmond worked as a team to help fold up clothes to donate to the less fortunate. The clothes will be donated to Syria, Calais and Athens the capital of Greece. Read on to find out more!

“First, they introduced their international charity called Feed the Hungry, and told us some interesting facts.

“Secondly, we were shown pictures of the camp sites, we were also shown a video which was of when the refugees received the clothing items and we noticed their reactions.

“Thirdly, we were challenged to a quiz to inform the visitors how much we know. Fourthly, we started packing their clothes into different groups of genders and seasons.

“Finally, we asked them various questions to include in our reports.

“One of our staff had their say too...Miss Smith said: “Feed the hungry seem to be doing an amazing job, helping people in so many countries. It would be great if even more people could get involved!”

Please donate any clothing that you no longer want to own to feed the hungry to be sure the less fortunate have better lives.”
