A UNIQUE two day opera festival is coming to Hinckley in July.

Opera Off Festival (OFF) will be showcasing the best the genre has to offer, ranging from traditional opera to new, challenging contemporary pieces and expert talks.

The fringe festival has been organised by Midlands based T-ArT Production, who are working along Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council, North Warwickshire And Hinckley College as well as local artist.

Tamara Tempera, exec- utive producer at T-Art, said: “We believe that opera not only has a glorious past but also a bright present, and potentially an ever brighter future.

“This is why we have decided to build a platform where composers, librettists, directors, creative artists and producers can put their own signature to the genre, with a twist.”

The festival kicks off on Friday July 1 with an innovative all male version of Bizet’s Carmen by Secret Opera in Hinckley and North Warwickshire And Hinckley College’s theatre at 6.30pm.

On Saturday July 2 there will be a chance for audi- ence members to get involved with a networking morning at Cafe Espanol, as well as a question and answer and breakfast session with OFF.

T-Art will also present extracts from Lady Shakespeare, a brand new opera by Luca Tieppo with libretto by Becca Marriott. This will also be held at Cafe Esapnol on the Saturday.

Tickets for Carmen are available from www.secretopera.com/box-office and for more information on the festival or T-ArT visit t.artproduction.co.uk, www.facebook.com/t.artprod or find them on Twitter @HinckleyOFF.
