Ivanhoe put to the sword

-

HINCKLEY Town thrashed Leicester Ivanhoe at the weekend by 196 runs to revive their stuttering start to the season.

The victory came hot on the heels of their first win against bottomplaced Earl Shilton last weekend.

The result saw Hinckley leapfrog Leicester into 10th place, with just one point separating the teams and the drop zone.

On Saturday, home side Ivanhoe won the toss and put Hinckley into bat first.

Hinckley started quickly scoring 45 in the first six overs, but losing the wickets of Ben Coddington for seven and Carl Crowe for a duck.

A third wicket stand of 55 between Craigh Crowe and Tammy Beaumont took the score onto 100 in the 18th over.

Crowe was caught out for 59 by Hunt from the bowling of Khan.

Will Hunt stepped up and took the score onto 161 for four after 29 overs.

Beaumont was LWB bowled by Sam Evans for 39 and Hunt scored an impressive 67 before being bowled in the 42 over, taking the score to 230 for six.

Hinckley were bowled out for 259 in the 50th over.

Josh Blunt and Sam Evans both took three wickets each for Ivanhoe.

In reply, Hinckley’s Suki Singh bowled Sam Evans with the first ball.

He also quickly bowled Newbury for five, with the score on seven for two.

Struggling Ivanhoe slipped to a miserable 28 for five after 11 overs.

The home side recovered slightly by reaching 51 before the sixth wicket fell in the 18th over when Durose was caught by Mahood, following the impressive bowling of Valand.

The bowler took a further two wickets in the same over leaving Ivanhoe on 51 for eight.

Ivanhoe only managed 12 more runs before being bowled out 63 after just 20 overs.

Valand took four wickets and only conceded one run, while Singh took three wickets for nine runs for Hinckley.

The away win earned Hinckley a crucial 30 points, while Ivanhoe gained five.

Next week Hinckley visit mid-table Lutterworth.
