STUNNING shots of Hollycroft Park through the seasons will feature in an exhibition set to celebrate the Hinckley green space.

Printed images by Hinckley Photographed photographer Paul Hands will form a focal point of the exhibition to be held in the Atkins Building for two weeks from Saturday September 24.

Mr Hands is also running an open art competition, calling on members of the public to put forward pictures, paintings or other handwork inspired by the Hinckley park to be considered for inclusion.

Winners and runners-up in two age groups will see their pieces put on show.

The exhibition is being co-ordinated by the Friends of Hollycroft Park, the voluntary group which has been encouraging community use of the green space for the past 16 years.

It will feature displays about its history and events that have been held there over the years including 80th anniversary celebrations in 2015.

Friends member and dis- play co-ordinator Margaret Parker said: “The friends of Hollycroft Park want to show how an award winning Green Flag Park has grown and developed over 80 years and touched the lives of the community of Hinckley through a display of the park’s history, recent and past events organised by the friends, pictures showing the beauty of the park taken by the group and local photographers and a display depicting the various music events put on in the park.

“People will be able to find out more about their local park and the work of this voluntary group.”

An opening event on Saturday September 24 at 6.30pm will include short talks by Hinckley historian Greg Drozdz, Friends chairman Dawn Jeffrey and secretary Sue Neal, with music from students of the borough’s JAM Music School.

Art competition entries will be judged in under-16 and adult categories. Work can be sent to Hinckley Photographed or taken along to Mr Hands who will be in the pavilion in Hollycoft Park during the Friends’ Sunday Funday event on August 7.

Mr Hands can be contacted at paul@hinckleyphotographed.co.uk or by calling 07854 956970.
