Superb weekend for race ace
HINCKLEY racer Billy McConnell put in a strong performance at Snetterton race course last weekend, securing a fourth and 14th place finish.
The Kawasaki ZX-10R rider just missed out on the podium in the first race of the day.
A dramatic start saw James Ellison, Richard Cooper and Broc Parkes all crash out on the second corner. All made it out unscathed, however.
It was a fight between the two Fireblades drivers for first place with Jason O’Halloran managing to snatch his first ever MCE British Super Championship win from his team mate Dan Linfoot.
Shane Byrne completed the podium, setting a new lap record on 1’47.714 in the process.
McConnell then finished a respectable 14th in the second race on the day.
Byrne finished first this time, whilst Linfoot finished second again whilst Northern Irish racer Michael Laverty completed the podium.
The weekend leaves McConnell 17th overall in the MCE British Super Championship after 10 rounds.
The Australian-born rider took to Facebook after the event and said: “Good weekend at Snetterton Race 1 4th. Race 2 14th. Big thank you to my team and supporters best result for us this year with more to come.”
Next up the competition travels to Thruxton Motorsport Centre between July 22 and 24.
