Stamper back in action

-

BARWELL’S British Superstock 600 competitor Dan Stamper made a fantastic comeback at Thruxton race circuit last weekend achieving a podium finish after eight weeks out with broken collarbone.

The 2016 season has so far been a struggle for Stamper and his Allied Racing team.

Tipped by pundits to be a serious contender for this year’s championship, the rider’s 2016 season has been riddled with unfortunate crashes and injury.

At the World Superbikes held at Donington Park in May, Stamper was involved in an incident that saw his collarbone shattered in three places, leaving him on the sidelines for eight weeks.

Undergoing hyperbaric oxygen chamber treatment, and working relentlessly to get back to full strength, Stamper made his comeback at the Thruxton round of the British Superbikes this weekend.

Still in a little pain, he managed to qualify fourth for Sunday’s race. After a good start to the race Stamper got away with the front five riders, only to be pushed back to 12th place in an aggressive battle with a number of keen competitors.

Keeping his head down and focusing on his own pace, he patiently moved forward with some impressive overtaking moves, eventually finishing the race in third place.

Stamper said: “It is great to come back on a high. This is a seriously competitive championship, with the best young riders from all over the world. I am sat in 12th place in the championship at the minute after missing two rounds, but there are five rounds left so it’s not over yet. We are going to build on this successful comeback and be even stronger at Brands Hatch.”

Stamper and the team are next in action on between August 5 and 7 at Brands Hatch in Kent.
