Garden show preparations looking rosy

-

GARDEN show organisers in Stoke Golding are hoping for a bumper crop of entries this year.

The annual horticultural and home skills competition will be held in Stoke Golding club on Saturday September 3.

With classes open to all, it is said to attract “friendly competition” from across the county and beyond.

Classes range from vegetables and flowers to floral art, baking and preserves, with special challenges for children.

A novice class gives people who have not won a prize at the show before chance to compete against each other.

This year’s novice class is for three beetroot of any variety.

Entries must be taken to the club on show day between 11am and 2pm for afternoon judging.

The show is then opened free to the public from 6pm.

As well as admiring the entries, visitors can enter a raffle, take part in an auction and buy donated vegetables, cakes and flowers from a market stall.

All money raised will be donated to charities and good causes with the main beneficiary of this year’s show to be Loros, the county hospice service.

Show schedules, which list all the classes and have full entry instructions, are free and available from Stoke Golding surgery, pubs, club and shops.

They can also be posted free of charge if you contact Tina on 07809 629690.
