We had a vote and that really should be it

-

IN reply to Shyfox, who doesn’t appear at all shy in insulting those who hold a contrary opinion.

The whole problem of the referendum was that both sides indulged in ridiculous scaremongering to a point where the true arguments became obfuscated.

I am neither xenophobic, nationalistic, a Daily Express reader, under-educated or narrow minded, nor do I lack realism.

I did not see the vicious anger in previous replies to you but I do see a certain irony in one complaining about it while dishing out “old, ignorant, under-educated and miserable” to those who disagree.

Here is the whole point, we had a vote, the majority who voted did so for Brexit. That really should be it.

Reasons I voted for Brexit? Simple. I did not vote to have Frau Merkel unilaterally swamp Europe with uncontrolled numbers of economic migrants and refugees. I did not vote to have our parliament subservient to various unelected commissions, cartels and technocrats.

I did not vote for a Common Agricultural Policy whose sole intention was to appease the French and therefore disadvantage other nations farming industry. I did not vote for a Common Fisheries Policy that sees thousands of our fisherman put out of work or having to sit in harbour for days on end watching as French and Spanish trawlers empty our waters of fish.

I did not vote for an EU that will see the inclusion of states such as Turkey and Albania before long. I did not vote for an EU Parliament that only meets four days a month.

I did not vote for an organisation that has not been properly audited in 18 years.

I did vote for the right for this country to govern itself, I did vote for Britain to stand on its own two feet - as it has done for centuries and capitalise on its rich history of innovation and trade that has been strangled by Brussels red tape.

I did vote for my children’s and grandchildren’s future and not for some horrific socialist experiment in corporate troughguzzling - I give you the Kinnocks as an example, failed politicians now sucking gravy from the EU teat to their hearts content.

Anyone who thinks that future generations have been sold short by a democratic decision has missed the point entirely. The spite and venom from both sides should stop and we should just simply get on with it, enough said. Brazen Fox
