EARL Shilton Town Seconds thrashed local rivals Hinckley Amateur by seven wickets at the weekend.

Home side Hinckley finished on 179 all out and the visitors reached their winning target in the final over with the loss of just three wickets.

Earl Shilton won the toss and chose to field first. Bowler Luke Smith took five wickets to peg Hinckley back to 179 all out, with Wainscott scoring 57 runs.

In return, Earl Shilton’s opening batsmen Jamie Simons and Giles Holmes took the score onto more than 80 before Simons was bowled out for 81 attempting a big hit.

Earl Shilton soon reached their target in the final over.

It was an impressive victory for Earl Shilton considerin­g their skipper Matt Robins, their most reliable batsmen, was ruled out with a hamstring injury. BARWELL Seconds suffered a 132 run defeat at home to promotion favourites Anstey and Glenfield.

The visitors batted first and were confident enough in their bowling attack to declare their innings in the 38th over after reaching 239 for five.

In reply, Josh Moore and James Dillon, with 50 and 16 respective­ly, got Barwell off to a good start.

However once they had departed, the innings fell away and Barwell were eventually all out for 107 in the 31st over.

Next weekend Barwell Seconds travel to Grace Dieu Park Seconds.
