Musicians invited to audition at uni
BUDDING performers are invited to audition at a new music institution in Leicester.
Echo Factory, a specialist centre offering university degrees in professional music training, opened its doors last month in a newly refurbished building in Humberstone Gate.
The centre has drummed up a lot of interest around its unorthodox approach to education which offers successful students the chance to sign up to its in-house record label and work with professional musicians and industry heavyweights.
It has been set up by businessman and musician Ajay Naik.
He said: “We want to give the musicians of today a better chance tomorrow of succeeding within the music industry.
“We will nurture and work with our students and provide them with a global platform from which to grow their career in the music industry”.
The centre is validated by University of Wolverhampton and offers degree courses in music business BA (Hons) and contemporary music performance BMus (Hons).
Three-piece band The Juice, which formed at North Warwickshire and Hinckley College in October last year, are one of a number of budding musicians starting the univer- sity in September.
Gavin Mercel, 19, from Barlestone, said: “I chose Echo Factory as it provides me with superior experience and tutoring not only within my specific area I want to study but all areas of the music industry.”
Students are invited to audition on August 20 at the centre.
