Liberal Democrats have election chance
I’M WRITING to encourage Gary Winter (Tweets & Posts, The Hinckley Times, August 3) not to be so pessimistic about the Liberal Democrats’ chances here in Hinckley and Bosworth.
The facts and figures show there’s reason to believe that, with continued hard work and dedication, my party stands a strong chance of gaining the parliamentary seat in this constituency at the next general election and thereby ensuring we get an MP who lives in the constituency and raises matters of concern to local people in parliament rather than (as with the current MP) his own personal hobby horses.
The facts are that the Lib Dems came a competitive second in the 2015 election, in both the parlia- mentary seat and the borough council elections, as well as having four county councillors representing this area.
By contrast, Labour came third in the race to be the MP, have only one borough councillor and no county councillors in this patch.
UKIP, meanwhile, have no borough councillors and just the one county councillor for this area.
My party will continue to listen to local people and take up the issues that matter to them.
As ever, we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting on with the job
Here’s to Bosworth going yellow when the next election comes!
