£1,000 up for grabs for a town charity

ENTRIES have already started coming in for our £1,000 giveaway to a good cause in the area.

Deserving charities are being given the chance to grab the cash thanks to Vodafone and The Hinckley Times.

The giveaway is part of the technology firm’s Community Connection Awards scheme.

The winning charity could be anything from a soup kitchen that needs money for a new oven or a scout group that needs new uniforms.

Brian Clarke, Vodafone store manager in Hinckley, said: “We’re delighted to team up with The Hinckley Times to offer a Vodafone Community Connection Award in Hinckley.

“We’re keen to play our part as members of the local community and we know there are some really deserving causes out there, working hard to make a difference – we hope they will put themselves forward.”

We are inviting readers of The Hinckley Times to nominate a charity. The lucky winner will then be selected by the newspaper and staff at Vodafone in Hinckley.

The winning cause needs to meet the following criteria:

It should be a local charity that makes a significan­t impact on the local community

It cannot be a personal or individual plight, nor a government funded organisati­on The award must also be for a specific project or purpose, rather than just to cover operating costs The award must be stand-alone rather than form any part of a larger contributi­on or bigger appeal Nominees must have a registered charity number Nominees must be based in The Hinckley Times’ circulatio­n area To enter, please write to us explain- ing why you, or your nominated group, deserves £1,000. Please keep the words to a maximum of 250.
