THERE was another good turn out for Saturday’s Lychgate Fisheries open match.

Venue expert Steve Brindley recorded yet another win, switching between the margins and the corner of the island on peg 45.

Steve caught fish throughout the day, finishing well clear with a 70lb 4oz final catch.

Liam Yeomans fished the method on peg 63 to catch 44lb for second place. John Davies was third with a 36lb 10oz catch on pole fished maggot while Kev Dales finished fourth with a 34lb 10oz catch.

Shackersto­ne’s open match fished along the Horse & Jockey length was won by Wayne Nickson who stunned the regulars by landing over 100 small fish for a winning 3lb 4oz.

Rob Bream enjoyed a good weekend, taking second place with 1lb 8oz while Kev Milne included a decent perch in his 1lb 5oz catch for third place.

Maynes Lakes produced some excellent catches in Wednesday’s open contest.

Top catch on the day came from Darryl Moore who pole fished paste to catch 81lb of carp from peg 28 on pool 1. Top catch from pool 2 was made by Alan Wilson with 78lb of carp from peg 48.

Pole fished pellet produced a winning catch for Tony Cuppleditc­h in Thursday’s Higham Lane Fishery open.

Drawn on peg 25 Tony fished the open water to land 74lb 11oz of carp to 8lb. Dave Hurlston finished second, from peg 17, at the other end of the lake, using pellet feeder tactics to catch 63lb 3oz. Alan Grewcock came third with a 55lb 9oz catch.

The Plough Angling Club’s fifth Summer Aggregate contest on the river Avon at Ryton again found the river low and clear making sport difficult.

Ted Howard took the honours with an all chub catch weighing 13lb 14oz. Barwell’s Colin Peck included a nice 2lb perch in his 4lb 9oz catch for second place with Mark Chinn taking third place with 4lb 2oz.

The was a close finish to Mill on the Soar’s Tuesday open with just 12oz separating the top two. Mick Linnett took the honours landing 34lb 6oz from peg 31. Bill Rutherford came second with 33lb 10oz while Pete White came third with 24lb 14oz.

The first round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series was fished along the Globe length of canal at Measham. Leading the way was Andy Morton with a 4lb 6oz catch of bream. Andy Smith also had bream to weigh 3lb 8oz for second place with Rob Bream finishing third with a 3lb 6oz catch.

Higham Lane have an open match every Thursday, draw 9am.

Lychgate Fisheries have open matches/ Lychomania qualifiers every Saturday and Sunday, draw 9am Saturday, noon Sunday.

The second round of the Pete Hogg Memorial series takes place on the canal this Saturday, draw at the Rising Sun at 1pm.

Brookfield have an open match planned for Sunday, draw 9am.

Measham have another “Away Day” match on Sunday, fishing at Staunton Harold Reservoir. Meeting in the High Street at Measham at 7am.

Mill on the Soar have an open match every Tuesday, draw 8.30am.

Maynes Lakes have an open match every Wednesday, draw 10am.

Lychgate Fisheries have an open match/Lychomania qualifier every Wednesday, draw 9am.
